Thousands of tracks are uploaded – released everyday and a main challenge for todays producer is to standout of all that noise. If your music is not heard by people you may loose your energy to produce more and pursue a career as an artist.
The general approach is to achieve a better production quality and trying to sound like people who made it. This may work but there is a better idea which is proven not just for music but for all branding.
Stop using the same generic sounds and tools that everyone uses. It is hard to differentiate yourself from the context if you wear the same colour. Instead start adding authentic sounds and tools to your production workflow.
Especially in electronic music an authentic vocal recording or a synth sound will help your music stand out. Your mark may be how you process it or how it is used within the context but the authenticity the source recording has will make your music a purple cow.
You either fit in or standout.
